Jon and his crew were exceptional! Skilled, professional, tidy, and efficient. Our nearly 200 year old farmhouse had failing structural carrier beam and joists in the basement. I hired The Tradesman to raise my 140-year-old Post and Beam barn, which had been neglected for many years. From the first meeting, Jon Lain impressed me with his thorough approach. He quickly assessed the situation, outlined the scope of work, and clearly explained the steps he would take to restore the barn—while also giving me the option to decide how far I wanted to go with the restoration.
In the end, Jon and his team raised the 40' x 40' barn by 12 inches, added 8 new footings beneath it, and installed a drainage system for underground water. They replaced over 40 feet of rotted sills with sturdy 8x8 beams. To preserve the barn’s original character, they replaced the rotted wood under the floor but were able to reuse the old flooring on top of more secure rafters.
The team also made sure that all the barn doors now operate smoothly. A significant structural issue with a post high above the barn floor was fixed, and Jon even pulled a beam back 6 inches to its original post position.
The Tradesman are now my go-to team for any future restoration projects. Jon and his crew are meticulous, thoughtful, and truly care about their work. I wholeheartedly recommend them for any home restoration project!

We had a complex foundation issue and deck replacement project that was completed impeccably by The Tradesmen LLC. Jon and Alec were ideal contractors: arrived the same time each day, worked with the same energy through blazing heat and thunderstorms, and demonstrated consistent high quality work. In addition, they were respectful of our property and worked carefully around our stone walls and plantings. We have worked with dozens of contractors over the years; The Tradesmen are the best we’ve encountered. They have exceeded expectations in quality, professionalism, and attitude. No drama, no mess - just the best in the business. Highest recommendation. UPDATE from October 2023: Jon and Alec completed a second project - the installation of 5 new replacement windows on our first floor. As before, impeccable work, and completed on time with excellent results. The new windows have improved the warmth of our home by eliminating the prior drafts and cold spots; aesthetically, they have also elevated the appearance of the first floor. We are planning additional projects and The Tradesmen will continue to be our first choice for home improvements. A+ quality and execution overall.

Jonathan & team at The Tradesmen did a phenomenal job replacing 4 windows in our home this past fall. Jonathan is extremely responsive & professional. Being first time home owners, we really weren’t sure where to begin. We received easy to understand quotes with several options for windows that would match our existing style & guidance regarding quality vs price. We were kept up to date on the status of our window order as the manufacturer was a bit back ordered, and as soon as our windows came in, Jonathan got us on the schedule. He arrived on time, ready to work. He and his employee worked efficiently and kept the work area neat and tidy. They worked so efficiently that they came in under their estimated labor hours, saving us money. It is rare these days that contractors are this honest and efficient in my opinion! Our new windows saved us a ton this winter on heating costs and the house was noticeably warmer. Having sought someone to fix the structural issues in my 1825 house for over a year, it was wonderful to have Jon come out, give a quote and set a date for work in a timely manner. He was able to work with our schedule for the heating system and did an amazing job! I am so grateful for the work and how polite and tidy they were as well. He kept us updated with every change they had to make due to structural changes and checked in to make sure everything was as we expected it to be. The Tradesmen LLC is an A1 five star company. Jon and his crew saved our shed/mini barn from “sliding down the slope”. The job required the building to be lifted, dig out the old foundation and replace it with new.
I live in a town that requires a building permit and inspections of any structural work being done on your property. When the inspector arrived he said they were doing a terrific job and that this building is never going anywhere!
